Within the scope of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a stand was opened to provide information about breast cancer in cooperation with our Health Club, Izmir Chamber of Commerce and Provincial Directorate of Health. At the booth opened at Izmir Fairgrounds, students gave information about breast cancer to the people who visited the booth through models. The importance of breast self-examination was emphasized, especially the importance of early diagnosis.

Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Health Sciences 2024-2025 Academic Year Opening Lecture titled "From Mythology to Terminology" was held with the contributions of Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Çakır Umar. The opening lecture was attended by students from Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing and Nutrition and Dietetics departments as well as interested participants. At the end of the lecture, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Filiz Öğce Aktaş presented a certificate of appreciation to Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Çakır Umar for her contributions.

Our faculty was awarded the green flag award in the category of "Accessibility in Education" in the "2024 Barrier-Free University Awards" organised by YÖK in order to raise awareness about the access of disabled individuals to spaces, educational opportunities and socio-cultural activities in higher education institutions and to disseminate good practices.  Disability Support Unit Coordinator Assist. Izmir University of Economics 2024 graduation ceremony was held at IEU Amphitheatre on Wednesday, 3 July. At the end of the ceremony, our graduates of the Department of Nursing recited the nursing oath and threw their caps into the air, and experienced the joy of successfully completing their studies at the university.

Within the scope of the Women's and Children's Health Nursing practice course, we held poster presentations on child health and reproductive health protection and development behaviours with our 2nd year nursing students on campus last week. Health to the efforts of our students and professors.

The Skor-O Orienteering competition organised by the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing within the scope of Nursing Week Activities was successfully completed. We congratulate the ranked teams and thank everyone who participated.

Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing and Ministry of Health, SBÜ Tepecik Training and Research Hospital organised the ‘Economic Power of Care Symposium’ in the Nursing Week programme in line with this year's ICN theme with the participation of our esteemed colleagues and valuable students. We celebrate the nursing week of all our colleagues.

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Seda Yakıt Yeşilyurt and Dr. Ata Elvan from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at our Faculty of Health Sciences have been appointed to new positions, adding strength to our faculty. We congratulate them and wish them a successful academic career filled with many more achievements.

Following an evaluation based on the highest number of scientific articles indexed in the Web of Science database between  2022-2024 with Izmir University of Economics affiliation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülsüm Nihal Çürük and Research Assistant Ecem Özgül from the Nursing Department have been awarded the Academic Achievement Award. We congratulate these esteemed faculty members on receiving this meaningful and special award and wish them continued success.

We held the first of our series of canteen chats on sexually transmitted infections in a productive and beautiful way with our guest Dr. Kazım Kıratlı, an infectious diseases specialist, and our moderator Alev Güçtekin.
