15th October World Handwashing Day

On October 15, World Handwashing Day, an awareness event was organized in collaboration between the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Izmir Private Turkish College. The event was held under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Ebru Dığrak, a faculty member of the Department of Nursing. As part of the program, Yaren Sert, a senior nursing student, educated approximately 450 elementary school students on the importance of handwashing and proper handwashing techniques. In addition, Sümeyye Oğuz, a 4th-year nursing student, gave a fun presentation to kindergarten students to encourage hand washing habits with a story she wrote titled “Microbes and the Magic Power of Soap.” The event aimed to raise awareness of hand hygiene at an early age and contribute to children leading healthy lives in the future.
